ATRN Congress Outcome Statement: ATAF to support African countries to navigate contemporary taxation challenges

ATRN Congress participants listened to well researched paper submissions from 44 authors on the subject of 'Contemporary Taxation Issues in Africa'.

DAR ES SALAAM - The African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) in partnership with the Tanzania Revenue Authority (TRA) held the 8th Annual African Tax Research Network (ATRN) Congress from 29-31 August 2023 at the Johari Rotana Hotel in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania. The theme of the Congress was Contemporary Taxation Issues in Africa.

Over 235 participants from Ministries of Finance, African Tax Administrations, Civil Society, Academia, and Development Partners, Captains of Industry, media practitioners and other key partners and individual tax policy experts attended the ATRN Congress. Participants at the Congress listened to well researched paper submissions from 44 authors on the subject matter. 


After the Congress, on 1 September 2023, ATAF in collaboration with the United Nations University World Institute for Development Economics Research (UNU-WIDER) held the 2nd Tax Research Masterclass which was a peer learning workshop targeted at officials from revenue authorities, policymakers and the academia.
