PRETORIA – The African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) and Vienna University of Economics and Business (WU) met at the Secretariat in Pretoria, South Africa and deliberated on the Tax and Trade project as well as the Technology (IT Tax Administration) initiative.

In addition to discussing upcoming steps within the project, extensive discussions were held regarding the incorporation of technology into tax and trade initiatives as well as scheduled events.

The two entities signed a new memorandum of understanding (MOU) in February 2024.

ATAF and WU share a rich history of collaboration, marked by significant achievements. In a previous MOU, they joined forces to identify and assess the tax and revenue implications of the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA).

This fruitful partnership led to the development of three policy briefs and the successful co-hosting of the 2022 African Tax Research Network (ATRN) event in Ghana.
