ATAF and WATAF Sign Cooperation Agreement to enhance technical support to the ECOWAS Region
ATAF and WATAF are long standing sister organisations with a joint membership of West African tax Administrations that sit as members of both organisations. The two partnering organisations have welcomed the official signing of the memorandum of cooperation.

The cooperation Agreement was signed by the ATAF Executive Secretary, Mr Logan Wort and his Counterpart WATAF Executive Secretary, Mr Babatunde Oladapo and witnessed by the event Host, FIRS Executive Chairman, Mr Muhammad Nami, current CATA President and ATAF Council Member as well as, The Gambia Commissioner General, Mr Yankuba Darboe, WATAF Chairman and ATAF Council Member.
The African Tax Administration Forum (ATAF) and the West African Tax Administration Forum (WATAF) signed a cooperation agreement on the margins of the CATA Technical Conference in Abuja, Nigeria hosted by the Federal Inland Revenue Services (FIRS).
ATAF and WATAF are long standing sister organisations with a joint membership of West African Tax Administrations that sit as members of both organisations. The two partnering organisations have welcomed the official signing of the memorandum of cooperation. The Partnership aims to strengthen collaborative delivery of members’ services in the ECOWAS region, fostered through common technical assistance approaches, capacity building and effective tax system instruments towards improved domestic resource mobilisation in West Africa.
WATAF Executive Secretary-Mr Oladapo Babatunde stated that, “the cooperation amongst our two organisations is long overdue, as WATAF seeks to encourage strong collaboration amongst ECOWAS member states towards the improvement of the quality of the region’s tax administration and aim to utilise our cooperation with ATAF to improve service delivery to our members.”
ATAF Executive Secretary-Mr. Logan Wort agreed that the cooperation with WATAF was long overdue and stated that “Not only will this MOU see ATAF and WATAF increase service delivery to the ECOWAS region but will also aim to appreciate the regional diversity and work to provide specialised technical assistance and expertise. ATAF will work closely with WATAF to provide rapid response support to our joint membership to enhance national and regional tax systems for improved domestic resource mobilisation”.
